Disney Paperbag Album and Explosion Box

some pages from the paperbag album

the front of the album

inside the explosion box

The explosion box with the lid sitting inside.

My sister asked me to make her a couple of albums that she can give as gifts. She's going to
Disney with extended family over Christmas vacation. So, I created the above for her.
I love making paperbag albums and explosion boxes because they are fun and quick. But there's a story behind the Mickey paperbag album. My friend, Twila, wants me to sell it to her. I think she's mainly teasing me. I hate to disappoint Twila, but I just can't do it!! You see, soon after I finished the album, I spilled COFFEE all over it!!!! It was soo depressing. I had to completely remake the album. The second time around wasn't as much fun. Make a third one??? It would completely lose the fun!!! But Twila's welcome to come over and copy this one ;-)

Candle Tin for gift

I love these tins!!! I've used them to make nugget tins and saw the idea somewhere on the net (sorry that I can't remember where) to put tealight candles in them. I found some wonderfully scented ones at Wal-Mart. They were cheap! 30 for 3.50 I used designer series paper from Stampin' UP called Ski Slope and the Felt Flurries from SU. The rhinestone brad is one that I got in a trade a long time ago. I used the Punch Pals scallop circle stamp; stamped it in white craft ink and embossed it with white embossing powder. I used the SU silver elastic cord to tie it to the belly band. I LOVE SU elastic cord and it's only sold during the Christmas season, SO BUY SOME NOW.
p.s. I have some extra tins for my local customers. If you'd like to buy them, they're $2.

Merry and Bright Snowman card :)

This card uses 5 of my most favorite stampin up things :)

#1 The scalloped square made with the Scallop Edge punch on a 2.75" square piece of paper. I just love these!!!! You just center the paper in the edge punch (using the markings on the black guide) and punch each side.

#2- The snowman from the Merry and Bright set. He is just sooo cute! And he's so versatile! I've made all types of gift bags with him :) snowman soup (hot cocoa), snowman poop (marshmellows), snowman kisses (tic tacs), etc...

#3 --Dazzling diamonds!! I love filling in the white parts of the snowman with the 2 way glue pen and then covering him with Dazzling Diamonds. A girl's gotta love her BLING!!

#4- ribbon!!
#5- SU Designer Series Paper--gotta love these last two because they just pull the project together and give it the perfectly coordinated look :)

Can you believe it's November??

Time has flown by! I can't believe it's November already! Where has all the time gone? This week is gonna fly by too! Today I'm getting a workshop and a demonstrator order from SU and another package from a different company for tins for an upcoming Christmas Treasures workshop. I can't wait til the man with the big brown truck visits today!! 3 boxes of goodies :)
So, I'll be creating until the midnight hours :)

Tomorrow I'll be standing in line to vote! DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!! This election is sooo important!! Wednesday my women's Bible study meets. Thursday is my Christmas tags class. Yippee!! And Friday we're visiting DH's aunt! Time is gonna fly!!!!

PUNS FROM THE PAST

(c) Image copyright Stampin' UP!

I made this card with a set Puns from the Past. It's a very cool set. My daughter likes the image of the old time fan and the saying "fan mail" :) The cool thing is that this set (or any other in the fall/winter sampler catalog) is free with any $350 workshop.

There was really nothing to this card. Very basic. Just tear the paper edges. Sponge the edges in chocolate chip with an ink dauber. The cardstock is chocolate chip, old olive, and very vanilla. The thread is actually strings from a piece of burlap. And I just used the template and piercer to make holes along the edge.

Inspired by Nature

(c) Image copyright Stampin' UP!

This card was created using the Inspired by Nature set. This is one of my favorite sets!!! I used markers on the stamp to give the flower different color interest. This was a quick and easy card.

Fall Sunflower Card

This is a card that we made on our Thursday Fall Card night. We covered the SU brayer in burlap and rolled it on the So Saffron card base to give it texture. The sunflowers are made from the Circle Scallop Punch, but each petal is cut with scissors to make a deeper petal. We used the 1 inch circle punch on chocolate chip cardstock for the sunflower center. The leaves are Old Olive folded in half and run through the SU Crimper at an angle and then cut into a leaf shape. The Old Olive strip on the side was decorated using the SO Swirly wheel with Versamark ink. Then we used the sponge daubers to age all the pieces. It was so easy.

Hope you enjoy this.

Paper Pumpkin

Hey, everyone!! Sorry it's been so long since I last posted.

I had a class on the 9th :) I'll be posting pictures of some of the projects from that class in a day or two. Today, I wanted to show you something that the girls that came on Thursday really liked.

And I want to give everyone directions on how to make this cute PAPER PUMPKIN. They're all over on the internet. Isn't it soo cute???? And it's soo EASY. It looks great on my entry table!! I plan on making a little basket full and a large one for the Thanksgiving table.

The instructions look long, but they're really easy. If you have any questions, email me. And if you make one, send me a picture and I'll put it up on the blog :) I'd love to see your version/take on the pumpkin.

You'll need the following:

5 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of Really Rust cardstock
small scraps of Old Olive cardstock
5 inch piece of 1/4" Old Olive grosgrain ribbon
Fall Harvest wheel
Stampin around handle
Versamark pad
SU paper crimper
Cropodile
1 brass brad (from office supply store or walmart)

Directions:

1. Cut your 5.5 in sheet of paper into 11 - 1 in. X 5.5 inch strips.
2. Ink up your Fall Harvest wheel with versamark ink and roll it on each strip.
3. Stack your 11 strips on top of each other with stamped side up.
4. Punch each end of your stack with the small side of your cropodile to make a hole.
5. Put the brad through all the papers on one end of your stack (the brass head should be on the stamped side and the prongs on the unstamped side).
6. Tie a knot on one end of your ribbon.
7. Thread the ribbon through the other end of your stack. The knot should be on the unstamped side and your open end on the stamped side.
8. Gently start spreading apart, sliding, manipulating the strips of paper until it becomes a ball.
9. Once it's in a ball, tie a knot into the ribbon, leaving a nice portion sticking up for your stem.
10. Take 2 scrap pieces of old olive cardstock and fold them in half.
11. Run them through your SU crimper at an angle. (this makes the veins in the leaf).
12. While still folded in half, cut into a pointed oval shape. Open and you'll have a leaf.
13. Take two THIN strips of old olive cardstock and wrap around a pencil to curl it.
14. Attach the leaves and the vines with adhesive (glue dots or MONO Multi Adhesive from Stampin UP).

BIG DAY today!!!

Before sharing all the big Stampin UP news, I wanted to share with you a super easy card I made today. It's from a set called A HAPPY HEART from the Holiday Mini Catalog (link below)which is now available starting today. Although it's part of a Valentine's set, I used it to tell DH that I love him. <3 <3 It's our anniversary this week <3 <3

WHAT I USED:
Cardstock- Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
Ink- Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Versamark
Accessories- 3/4 in and 1/2 in circle punches, Dazzling Diamonds, 2 Way Glue Pen

HANDY DANDY TIP OF THE DAY- If you want to emboss, but only have a Classic Ink Pad, you can first ink your stamp in Versamark and then immediately onto a Classic Pad, then finally onto paper. Just make sure you do it in that order (don't want to ink in colored classic and then put that stamp into your clear Versamark, might make you cry on your cardstock!). Just remember, clear Versamark, then colored ink, then onto paper. This works AWESOME for all the IN COLORS that are only available in the Classic style inks!

Now... Drum roll... The Big News!!!!

First, Stampin' UP! is celebrating their 20th birthday and they're throwing a PARTY!!! In October customerscan get 20% off select birthday sets! All you have to do to qualify for this sale is purchase $20 in product. Then, you can order as many of these birthday sets as you want at 20% off!!!!

Also, for a limited time only, you can purchase a large aqua painter for only $7.25. These are soo awesome for watercoloring! Just take a Stampin' UP ink pad, give it a squeeze in the middle. Open the case up, and ink will be on the lid. With that lid as a palette, use your aqua painter to pick up some of the color and start coloring your image. The aqua painter perfectly controls the flow of water, allowing you to shade your images. When you want to change colors, lighltly put pressure on your aqua painter to release a small flow of water and wipe your aquapainter on a towel. It's soo clean and simple!! It's a great way to use your inks to water color! And you don't have to worry about knocking a glass of water all over and making a mess!

TODAY is ALSO the debut of the NEW HOLIDAY MINI!!! If you haven't seen it, click here. http://www.stampinup.com/us/documents/HolidayMini_08_US.pdf All these seasonal stamps and accessories are WONDERFUL!! It's soo hard to choose! I'll take one of each please!! LOL!!

My Stampin Up Adventure

I was introduced to stamping by my friend Amy who took me to a Christmas Stampin Up! workshop in 2007. I had such a great time making all types of Christmas gifts and cards; I was ready to do it again the next day!!! In fact, I was sooo excited about the items, that I took a picture that night to show some of my internet friends what I had made. I couldn't believe what I had actually accomplished in a couple of hours and I'd never stamped before!! The recipients of these gifts all Oooh'd and Ahhh'd and wanted me to make more :)

In the last year, I've discovered that I LOVE stamping. And I love the sense of accomplishment I get. Most crafts or hobbies take MANY MANY hours before you have a finished product. That's why I have lots of unfinished neddlepoint, crochet, sewing projects and sooo on!! But stamping is different. You can make a simple card in UNDER 10 minutes. Yes!! 10 minutes!! I can make the CUTEST candy filled gift bags (that are ALMOST too cute to eat) for a WHOLE classroom in an hour!!

This is why I've decided to become a Stampin Up! demonstrator. I want to share my love of stamping with you, all my friends. I want to show you how easy it is. Those projects you see that you think, "Oh! I wouldn't be able to do that!" YES, you CAN! It's easy, and I want to show you how.

There's no better time than now to start stamping! Stampin Up! has just released their new Fall-Winter 2008 Catalog and Idea Book. While I'm waiting for my Demo kit with the new stamps and ink shades, I'll be posting some pictures of other Stampin Up! projects. So stay tuned, and check back often.

Lisa :)
