Baby Shower with a spring/ladybug theme using the Paisley Cricut Cartridge

Invitation: Baroque Motiff Stampin' Up Stamp Set & Paisley Cricut Cartridge

 

Banner-  Used the (Blessing was the baby's name :).  I used the Paisley cartridge to decorate the banner and we hung it over the gift table.  The mother took it home and hung it in the baby's room.

Seed Packets-  Bought the 5/$1 flower seeds from Walmart.  Used the Freshly Picked Cricut to cut seed packets that could cover the Walmart ones.  (If anyone needs dimensions for this let me know.  I have it saved on my Gypsy).  I used the ladybugs from the Paisley cartridge to decorate the fronts.  And I used an acrylic alphabet stamp set to stamp "May Flowers".   On the side of the gift table we had a cream clay pot with florist picks holding these seed packets with a sign saying "April Showers, bring May Flowers."  It was an April baby shower.  The seed packets were the shower favor.

In a recent Youtube video, I said that the Paisley  Cricut Cartridge is one of my favorites.  The above pictures are why I fell in love with this cartridge.   The Paisley cartridge has the cutest images.   I've really enjoyed making things with it.  And as an added bonus, you can get it really cheap on Ebay.   It has been around for a while, but it was new to me in 2011, and that's why it made my list.

OH NO! Tell me it ain't so!!! WHERE'D MY MOJO GO????

I've been soo busy with other things lately, that I haven't been stamping. This is the longest time I've gone without stamping for a while. When I sat down at my desk last night, I just couldn't get the juices flowing on things I wanted to create.

I decided to get me going, I would start easy :) So, I went to the basket on my desk. I keep a basket with pieces that I've made for cards, but for whatever reason, they never made it onto a card. I pulled out this LOVE You Much image I'd made earlier and turned it into a card. That wasn't too hard :)

Then, I decided to look through the SAB catalog and saw a card I wanted to copy. I didn't have all the materials but I made do with what I had:) I used all colors from the new BRIGHTS collection we'll have this summer. And I added Summer Sun as the base and for other pieces.

Then I went to the Idea Book & Catalog for inspiration for my next two cards. They're pretty much copies except for some changes in colors :)

Cedarville Sock Monkey

This is a card I made for ds. He goes to Cedarville University and they have a yearly program called Elliv (ville spelled backwards). So, the week of this special program, I'm sending him this card :) I used the Linen Background stamp to make Sock Monkey look like he's made from material. Tomorrow I'll have something for you besides Sock Monkey :)

Hill Billy Sock Monkey

Paper piecing sock monkey is one of my favorite things to do. Well, when I first got him, I stamped his mouth on some red polka dot designer series paper. After I cut out the mouth and glue it in place, I realized the polka dots were right where teeth would be and I started cracking up. So, this card became HillBilly Sock Monkey :) I've got to come up with some cute saying for the inside. Any ideas???

Another Live With Passion Birthday card

Before I got busy with gardening, I'd cut pieces for a card based upon one that I'd seen at my upline's house. This morning I decided to finish that card, and only when I came to my blog this morning did I realize how close it is to the other Live With Passion birthday card I posted a few days ago. I think I was waiting to finish this card until I could get a book I was willling to punch the pages. My upline had made her flower out of printed book pages (which looked really good because it added another black element to the design). I didn't have a book I was willing to punch though, so I went to designer paper. It's so nice to work with these bright colors. I'm definitely in the flower mood with the warm weather and being outside gardening!!

Easter Card with bunny

Another Easter card. It uses a mixture of stuff I've had from when I first started papercrafting and my Stampin Up supplies. The bunny and grass are from some retired dies that I got a couple of years ago. I used Pretty in Pink chalk to color the bunny's ears and the Going Gray ink with a blender pen to color the eye. The little flowers are from the Flower Trio punch and the sequins in the center are ones that my grandmother gave me :) The sentiment is from the stamp set Well Scripted.

I made up an Easter Kit in my Etsy shop to share some of these things if anyone is interested in making their own creations along these lines.

Live With Passion birthday card

I got the idea for this card yesterday afternoon while stamping with my upline, Mary Atwood. She always gives me great ideas! Mary made a bright card similar to mine and used the sentiments "Live with passion" on the outside, and on the inside she used "Wishing you the happiest birthday yet!" I thought that was a genius combination!

Supplies used:

Cardstock--Summer Sun, Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Basic Black

Designer Paper- Pink Flamingo

Inks- Black Staz-on, Cameo Coral

Accessories- dimensionals, cordouroy button

One of my favorite layered flower cards

This is one of my favorite layered flower cards. It's made the same as the other flower cards that I've video taped. You punch your flowers, crumble them, uncrumble them, distress the edges with ink, layer them, punch your hole through the center with the crop'odile, set your eyelet, then wrap your ribbon around your card, bring the ends up through the center of the flower and tie. Simple! But I love the look!

Easter projects for my March class

Hey, everyone! These are the projects we made in yesterday's class. The little basket is made from the Scallop Envelope die. I'm going to use my basket for my husband for Easter with a few of his favorite treats :) He's got a sweet tooth.

I love this card! I designed the card to coordinate with the basket, so the people attending my class could use them together as a set. I love the stamp set, Abundant Hope, that I used on the card. It's cheap, just $13.95! What I really like is the Christian sentiment that comes with it "Rejoicing with you in the abundant mercy and hope of Christ the Lord." And then the images, a scroll (that I didn't use on the card) and the daffodils, I'll use all year. I think it would make a beautiful sympathy card. I hope it makes it into the new catalog that comes out this summer, because I plan to use it a lot!!

Well, this is all I can share today. I'm visiting cosmetology schools with my daughter today. She thinks she wants to be a hair stylist and wants to attend cosmetology school this summer and through her senior year. So, we're off to check it out.

Easter Blessings Card

This card uses the stamp set Easter Blessings. Except for my boo-boo this was an easy card to make :) Too bad the camera doesn't catch the popped up flowers. I think it looks better in person than in this photo. Oh well!

Tomorrow, I'll have pictures of the projects we'll be doing at my Thursday morning class. But no guarantees of a video as I'll be concentrating on my upcoming class :)

Scallop Flower Birthday Card

Today, I thought I'd show you how to make the scalloped flower birthday card I posted earlier. This is almost like the card I showed in my last post, except I used last year's in colors. I really like this card. It's surprising how quick it is. These flowers aren't just great for cards, but you can use them to decorate a small gift box or gift bag.

Layered Scalloped Flower Birthday Card

Hey,everyone!! This is just a quick post of a card I made a while ago. I think I showed it in a video on making another type of paper flower. I will be making a video of this card next week. It's really easy and fun. These flowers are addictive.

I'm enjoying my son. It's soo good to have him back home, even though it's just for a week. :)

Tonight is the midnight showing of Johnny Depp's Alice in Wonderland. My daughter is having an Alice in Wonderland tea party beforehand with some friends and then going for the midnight showing and my son is meeting some friends there tonight too. I've got a lot of things to get done before the girls come!!

Easter Chick punch art card

Hey, everyone!!

I've been waiting to make this card for a week now, but I had to get some yellow feathers first!! If I'd had a yellow feather duster, I would have plucked a few and made it immediately!! I finally sat down and made it this morning.

I really like how it turned out. Except you can't see the edge of the punched grass, cuz' this guy's feathers are just too fluffy--LOL! But it was a surprisingly easy card to make.

I didn't make a video today because I have a lot to do today :) My son is coming home from college for spring break. He'll be here for the next 10 days. I probably won't make any videos during that time. But I'll probably still make it up into my stamp room here and there. When I do, I'll post pictures of what I make :)

PUNCHES- wide oval, scallop edge (for grass), modern label, word window, Heart to Heart (beak) punch
Other tools: Scallop Circle Die, and 4" circle
Cardstock: Whisper White, Green Galore, Orchid Opulence, Yoyo Yellow, Only Orange, Pretty In Pink

Thank Goodness For Punches!!!

Punches have saved me on more than one stamping occassion. They got me through several baby showers when I didn't own a baby stamp set!! And today they helped me create a St. Patrick's Day card without a St. Patrick's Day stamp set. Now, using the hearts to make a shamrock isn't my creation. I've been it around on blogs for a couple of years. It was filed away in my brain for a day like today!

Now, making my own colored glitter might be my own creation, I some other stamper has thought about this by now, I'm sure??? I dunno. I was originally going for a mixture of different green glitters, but as you'll see in the video I accidentally dropped TWO drops of reinker instead of one into my glitter--so it all ended up the same color. Anyway, it still worked out great.

I had to cut over 3 minutes from the video, so you might notice some chopiness. I hope you stil enjoy it :)

Vintage Vogue Cracked Glass

I decided to do the Vintage Vogue and the cracked glass technique together. I hadn't done this technique since last summer with the 24-7 stampset. It's a fun technique.

When you crack your "glass" you can get different results. The colder your paper and the quicker you crack your glass, the deeper the crackers. The warmer your paper and the slower you crack, the more subtle the cracks. Error on the side of being subtle. You can always stick it back in the freezer and recrack it. If I had to do it over again, I would have gone slowly and allowed the card to warm up a bit. (It had been in the freezer for a while because I got sidetracked on the computer).

In the video I do 4 coats of Versamark and Glassy Glaze embossing powder, but you can probably do 2-3 if you get good coverage. You want your embossing to create a shiny smooth surface without dimples. Also, I say to keep the card in the freezer for 20-30 minutes. 15-20 will probably do you. My card was curled up it was sooo cold--LOL!!

Vintage Vogue Flower Layers

These are two cards I made this morning. I made the distressed one first. My daughter thought it looked too dirty. So, I decided to go back to my stampin table and see what I could do with some brighter colors and without the distressed look. And todays video is what I came up with. My daughter likes this new one better. I still like my distressed one best :) Different styles for different people, I guess! I hope you enjoy the video!!

Chalkboard Technique with Vintage Vogue

I love the chalkboard technique. You can see in my history where I used it with the set Inspired by Nature. I think it turned out great with the Vintage Vogue stamp set too! It's much more stunning in person. I wish you could see it in real life! My daughter even liked this card!!

Here is how you do this technique.

With All My Heart sponged card

This is a quick, simple and economical card that's fun to make. All you need is cardstock, ink, and the With All My Heart stamp set and a sponge.

Embossed Ribbon

I've been hearing about embossed ribbon and I finally decided to give it a try. It's so simple and definitely has a WOW! effect!!! I will for sure be using this technique a lot!

I wanted to break out the set Three Little Words which I got for free for Sale-a-bration. I've been admiring this set since it came out and I'm so glad I got it. I didn't do anything fancy with it today--just a simple 5 minutes and you're out the door card.

I wanted something simple today and this fit the bill!

Easter Egg Card

Hey everyone!

If you decide to make today's project, you're going to love it. These Easter eggs are so much fun to make. This would make a great card to do with the kids too. Your eggs can be as simple or as complex as you'd like. Today I used cardstock, designer series paper and different embellishments. You could also do techniques like the Shaving Cream technique (you can check out my video tutorial (non easter)for that from last year). Anyway, I'm be making more egg cards this weekend and they'll be up in my Etsy shop. And I'll post them on my blog too, so you can see if there's anything you'd like to copy.
